A 10-year-boy who lost his parents in the Asian tsunami in December 2004 is accused with murdering his adoptive mother after she allegedly taunted him about the death of his mother and father.

The boy, whose identity cannot be released because of his age, faces up to 15 years in prison when he is sentenced.

According to reports, the boy, who is from the island of Nias, and his adoptive mother, Etty Rochyati did not have a loving relationship.

It is believed that Rochyati, 50, threatened to kick the boy out of the house several times and constantly taunted him by saying, “Don’t you know that you don’t have a mother and a father anymore?”

Rochyati was found in a ditch with multiple wounds to her head and a stab wound to the stomach.

According to child protective services, the lengthy prison sentence is inappropriate for the boy who was mistreated by his adoptive mother.
