10-year-old Tony Borcia killed in tubing accident

A 10-year-old Illinois boy was killed while tubing along the Chain O’Lakes over the weekend.

The fatal accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Lake Petite.

Reports say Tony Borcia, from Libertyville, was riding an inner tube pulled by a boat when he fell off his donut tube and was hit by a boat.

Authorities said Borcia, who suffered traumatic injuries, died at the scene.

Borica’s family released a statement saying in part: “Tony was the sweetest, nicest boy.  He loved his family and his friends to no end.  He will be terribly missed.”

As of press time no one had been cited or arrested in the incident.
