A 16-year-old UK girl was stabbed to death on a busy bus in England early this morning.

Witnesses said the victim was on her way to school on the No. 9 First West Midlands bus when the male suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed her as the bus was pulling into a stop on the Hagley Road around 7:30 a.m. Thursday.

The suspect, who was known to the victim, then fled the scene.

Rush hour passengers tried to save the teenager, who was in her school uniform, while others called the police but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the suspect, who has not yet been identified, was arrested a few hours later on Lower Temple Street in Birmingham city center.

A motive for the killing was not known at press time.
