24-year-old Chinese musician Zhang Muyi dating 12-year-old Canadian model Akama Miki

Being a fashion model at the age of 12 is not a shocker because most of the girls on the runways are under the age of16, but what is a shocker is a 12-year-old model dating a 24-year-old Chinese singer and it’s public knowledge.

Pop star Zhang Muyi shocked his fans when he declared his love for Canadian model Akama Miki on the Chinese social networking site Sina Weibo.

“There’s nothing we can do about this, nor do we feel the need to prove anything to these people,” the singer wrote.  “All we can do is continue to persevere with our love, our life and being together.”

The couple met when Muyi was 20 and Miki was 8 and the singer was hired by the model’s parents to be her music teacher; however, their intimate relationship did not start until after the musician hired Miki to appear in one of his music videos.

Since then, the couple has appeared in many videos and has even made a couple of duets together.

Shortly after Miki turned 12 she wrote on her Twitter page, which has 500,000 followers: “Wait until I’m old enough to marry you, and then I’m going to say ‘I do.’”

Muyi then replied: “I simply can’t wait for these next four birthdays of yours to pass; I’m counting down each one.”

No word on how the pre-teen’s parents feel about the relationship.
