24-year-old NYC man accused of attacking 9-year-old brother and mother with a hammer

A 24-year-old Brooklyn man is accused of attacking his 9-year-old brother and his mother inside their Bedford-Stuyvesant home with a hammer.

According to the police report, around 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, the unnamed man attacked his brother and 45-year-old mother inside their home on March Avenue between Monroe and Madison streets.

The suspect was then held in the basement of the home until police arrived by another brother, who is also 24.

Authorities said that the mother is expected to make a full recovery, but the boy is struggling to stay alive at Kings County Hospital.

The suspect is currently at Woodhull Hospital, where he is undergoing psychiatric evaluation.
