Ex-Afghan soldier Dan Collins commits suicide over guilt of friends who died: Reports

A 29-year-old British ex-soldier suffering from post-traumatic stress is said to have committed suicide inside his home on New Year’s Day.

Dan Collins’ body was discovered by his girlfriend, Vicky Roach.

It is believed he hanged himself.

Roach said Collins had been upset that he returned home without his close friends, Dane Elson and Tobie Fasfous, who died in separate incidents in Afghanistan in 2009.

Twenty-seven Roach said Collins had attempted to take his life before.

At the time he committed suicide, Collins was undergoing counseling.
