47-year-old David Melendez dies in early morning New Jersey accident

A 47-year-old man from Wallkill, New York, was killed early Saturday morning when his motorcycle collided with a SUV in New Jersey.

Authorities said David Melendez was driving his Harley Davidson southbound on Route 23 in Wantage around 9:30 a.m. Saturday, when he collided with a Chevrolet Trail Blazer going in the opposite direction.

Melendez was thrown from his motorcycle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 33-year-old driver of the SUV, who has not been identified, was not injured in the accident, which is being investigated.
