60 Minutes creator Don Hewitt dead

According to CBS News, Don Hewitt, the creator of 60 Minutes died today at the age of 86.

After he stepped down from 60 Minutes in 2004, Hewitt went on to be executive producer of CBS News.

Hewitt leaves behind his third wife of 30 years, Marilyn Berger; two sons, Steven and Jeffrey, whose mother is Hewitt’s first wife, Mary Weaver who predeceased him; a daughter Lisa Cassara, whose mother was his second wife, Frankie Teague Hewitt, who died in 2003; and his Frankie’s daughter, Jilian Childers Hewitt, whom he adopted.
