Actor Louis Gossett Jr. revealed earlier today that he has prostate cancer, but it is in its early stage.

In a statement that was released by the Oscar, Emmy and Golden Globe winner he said, “I count this diagnosis among the many challenges I have faced in my life and overcome.  I expect this to be no different.”

The 74-year-old actor who appeared in the 1983 movie “An Officer and a Gentleman,” said he has already started an intensive treatment program.
