A passenger aboard a flight in the Caribbean is said to have crawled his way into the cargo hold from the lavatory and stole more than $200,000 in cash from a luggage.
Reports say the suspect on board an Air Antilles plane knew beforehand that a Brink’s security employee would be flying from Guadeloupe to St. Martin with $1.6 million.
While on the 40 minute flight, the suspect, who was travelling with a woman, told flight attendants he was not feeling well and spent most of the travelling time in the bathroom.
Authorities say while in the bathroom, the suspect removed panels separating the toilet and the cargo hold and took $238,000 from the Brinks luggage.
Meanwhile, reports say the accomplice asked a flight attendant for an ambulance to meet them on the tarmac, but when the plane landed, the suspect said he was suddenly feeling better and walked out of the airport without having to go through security checks.
Upon landing the Brinks employee checked his luggage and realized that the money was missing and contacted airport security.
The accomplice was detained by police but later released.
