Authorities in Connecticut said the 20-year-old Waterbury woman who died last night on I-84 was driving in the wrong lane.

Amanda Grenier was driving her Volvo east in the westbound lanes near Exit 24 around 11:00 p.m. Monday, when she collided with a Toyota.

Grenier, who was not wearing her seatbelt, was rushed to St. Mary’s Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Authorities said the passenger in Grenier’s car, 21-year-old Kaleigh Moran, also of Waterbury, and the driver of the Toyota, 51-year-old Monica Evens, suffered minor injuries.

It is unclear whether alcohol played a role in the accident, which is still being investigated.
