An Italian jury found American student Amanda Knox and her Italian boyfriend guilty of killing British student Meredith Kercher.

Knox, 22, who was sentenced to 26 years in prison, and her twenty-five year old boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, who was sentenced to 25 years in prison, were convicted on all charges except theft.

In addition to prison time, both were ordered to pay a total of $7.4 million to Kercher’s family, and Knox, was ordered to pay an additional $60,000 to the man she falsely accused of killing the British exchanged student.

After the judge read the verdict, Knox who was wearing a lime green jacket and her hair in a single ponytail began weeping and said, “No, no.”

Knox and Sollecito were charged with killing and sexually assaulting Kercher more than two years ago while all three were studying in Perugia.

On November 2, 2007, the 21-year-old British student from Leeds University was found in a pool of blood with her throat slit in the house she shared with Knox.

Shortly after the killing, Knox, who is from Seattle, Washington and Sollecito were arrested.

A third person, Rudy Guede was convicted in a separate trial and is currently appealing his conviction.

Knox testified that Guede was the sole killing.

Lawyers for Knox and Sollecito said their clients will appeal the verdicts.
