Update

Police in Texas charged registered nurse Verna McClain with capital murder in the shooting death of a Kala Marie Golden.

Witness told police that McClain “repeatedly shot Golden then snatched her baby from her arms” then drove away in a Lexus.

Montgomery County District Attorney Brett Ligon told “Good Morning America” Wednesday that McClain confessed to the killing saying her plan was to “kidnap any child” and Golden was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Ligon did not say whether the male suspect, who was in the car with McClain” has been apprehended.

There are reports that little Keegan Schuchardt has been found safe and one person is currently in police custody.

Authorities in Montgomery County, Texas, are searching for the suspect who shot and killed a mother outside her doctor’s office and then kidnapped the victim’s 3-day-old son.

The incident occurred around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday outside Northwoods Pediatric Center on Borough Park.

Authorities said Kala  Marie Golden was leaving her doctor’s office with her newborn and as she got to her vehicle she got into an altercation with a black female sitting in a Lexus car parked next to her truck.

Witnesses told police that the black female fired seven shots at Golden and then grabbed her child and the car seat from Golden’s vehicle.

The suspect then fled the scene with the child hitting a wounded Golden with her vehicle.

Lt. Dan Norris said there was also a male inside the light green Lexus with the 20-something-year-old black woman with blonde hair.

A description of the man was not given.

The baby, Keegan Schuchardt, was last seen wearing a green and white one-piece outfit with the word “handsome” on it.

Keegan is white with very short brown hair.  He is 22 inches long and weighs about 6lbs 15onces.

Anyone with information is asked to call their local law enforcement agency immediately.
