For the first time since leaving the Today show, Ann Curry and Matt Lauder were together in the same room, sitting next to each other…….. Can you say “awkward!”
The reunion took place today in London where they were broadcasting the Olympics.
Wearing a blue dress, Ann sat next to her former co-host to introduce Adam Pretty, the chief photographer for Getty’s, who has taken some of the most of the beautiful pictures, including the ones of the London 2012 Olympics, you see in magazines and television.
An overly friendly Matt said “Good morning, Ann, nice to see you.” Ann, who obviously still holds Matt responsible for her being fired from the morning chat show said, “Good morning,” not even saying his name.
Fifty-five year old Ann then went straight into her story.
At the end of the segment Matt tried to chitchat with Ann by saying “Good to see you” and Ann just nod her head.
Ladies Home Journal interview
In an interview Ann gave to Ladies Home Journal before she was fired, the news correspondent suggested that executives at NBC and Matt were not happy with the way she dressed and the fact that she refused to color her gray hair.
Ann said “One day I wore a multicolor dress and someone asked if I was trying to be Toucan Sam,” who is the Froot Loops mascot.
“I’ve got gray hair because I won’t dye it. I want to be about to honor my family by looking exactly as they did as they got older. Of course I want to look my best. I eat right, exercise and use skin cream.”
She said “I try to wear nice clothes. But I don’t want to change the fundamental parts of me because it means changing who I am.”
She also told the magazine that her bosses wanted her to wear high heels because they felt female viewers wanted to see beautiful shoes.
“I’m encouraged by my bosses to wear these ridiculously high heels shores because say: ‘I love your shoes!’ So if it makes women happy, I’ll wear them. But I’m still going to be me.”
The Ladies Home Journal interview with Ann is in the August issue
