A Pennsylvania man who robbed a bank in 2007 told a judge he did it because he wanted to go to jail and get away from his overbearing wife.
During his sentencing on Monday, Anthony Miller told the court he robbed the bank because he wanted to leave his then-wife who had threatened to commit suicide if he did, and after looking at all of his options going to jail was his best way out of the marriage.
Two years ago, Miller walked into a bank with a BB gun, asked the teller for money and then told them to call the police.
Miller’s attorney, Robert Beyer said while his client was in the bank he asked the tellers for updates on their efforts to reach the police.
Miller, 39, was sentenced to three to six years in prison.
The couple divorced last year.
