Bad weather is being blamed for an accident involving 100 vehicles near Fargo, North Dakota, officials say.

North Dakota State Highway Patrol Captain Eldon Mehrer is asking residents to stay off the roads after snow, ice and rain in the past several hours caused treacherous conditions.

The chain reaction on Interstate 94 occurred Thursday when two tractor trailers collided. The accident and bad weather caused officials to close I-94 between Jamestown and Fargo and I-29 from the Canadian border to South Dakota.

For now, authorities say rescue teams are concentrating on using snowmobiles and buses to pick up stranded motorists and they are leaving vehicles that drove off roads into ditches.

Thankfully, only one person was critically injured.

Stay home people, it’s not worth it!
