I became a fan of the Bernie Mac in the 2001 when he did ‘The Bernie Mac Show’ on Fox. The truth is, the only reason I started watching his show was that everyone kept telling me his show was like a page from my own life story. Just like ‘The Bernie Mac Show’ my husband and I had taken our niece and nephew to live with us a year earlier.
In addition, the actors who played his oldest niece and nephew were also around the same age as my niece and nephew, and the actor who played his nephew Jordan looked very much like my nephew Joseph. After watching one episode of this show I was completely hooked, not just because of the similarities, but because the show was really good, and Bernie was truly funny.
I became a bigger fan of Bernie Mac when he later did Ocean’s 11, then Bosley in ‘Charlie’s Angels’. It was at that time that I started renting many of his earlier work, gosh, he was a really funny comedian.
If you don’t know who Bernie Mac was, I really suggest that you rent one of his movies. My favorites are ‘Guess who?’, Ocean’s 11 (even though Ocean’s 12 and 13 were not that good, Bernie was very funny in them), ‘Mr. 3000′ and you can still catch ‘The Bernie Mac Show’ on UPN.
Bernie you will be missed!
