Bishop Eddie Long’s wife, Vanessa, files for a divorce

For those of you who have been asking “why is Bishop Eddie Long’s wife still with him after all the embarrassment he put her through with his gay lovers? Well ask no more because yesterday she filed for a divorce.

Vanessa Long issued a statement this morning saying after 21 years of marriage, she is finally leaving her gay cheating husband, who is Bishop of the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church.

“After a great deal of deliberation and prayer, I have decided to terminate my marriage to Bishop Eddie L. Long,” Vanessa Long said.

“I ask that you respect my privacy and that of my family, as my attorneys and I have agreed that we will not try this case in the media, and I do not intend to make any further statements concerning this matter,” the statement continued.  “I also ask that the public pray for my entire family during this difficult period of transition.

Earlier this year, four men in their 20s filed a lawsuit against Long claiming he had sexually molested them.  The church eventually settled the suit.  It is believed the settlement was around $15 million.

Fifty-eight year old Long has been an outspoken opponent of homosexuality.
