Police responding to an emergency call in Maryland on Friday, found the body of 83-year-old Doris Lea Cooke in a freezer of the home the elderly woman shared with her two daughters.

Cooke’s grandson, Patrick Hoover, told reporters that his grandmother suffered from various medical conditions and had been bedridden for several years.

According to police, the elderly woman passed away several weeks ago and for unknown reasons, family members placed her body in freezer.

Authorities transported the body to the chief medical examiner’s office in Baltimore where an autopsy is expected to take place.
