Body of L.I. teacher Daniel Bobis found in Indonesian waters

A fisherman in western Indonesia found the body of a 32-year-old Long Island, New York, man who disappeared while surfing on Sumatra Island last weekend.

Daniel Bobis, a math teacher at Long Beach High School, was surfing over the weekend when he hit another surfer’s board after emerging from a large swell.

Bobis’ board later washed up on sure without the surfer.

Early Thursday morning, a fisherman found Bobis’ body in the waters off Sumatra Island.

He was identified by his wife, Rachel, who was at the beach at the time of the accident.
