A 41-year-old Massachusetts man was arrested after his girlfriend told police he hoisted her vehicle in the air with his work forklift than drop it on the ground during an argument.
The woman, who has not been identified, told police she was driving her boyfriend, Brian Hurley, to work at New England Warehousing Inc. over the weekend, when they began fighting over money.
The victim said as she pulled up to Hurley’s job they continued to argue inside the vehicle then he slapped her on the face before abruptly exited the car. Once outside, Hurley allegedly kicked the car several times causing dents. She said he then walked over to an unmanned forklift, steered the forks underneath her car and lifted it into the air, while she was still inside.
Hurley drove the forklift with the car for a short distance before dropping it down on the street. Thankfully, the woman was not seriously injured.
Police said Hurley then fled the scene of the crime but they caught up with him at his Springfield home.
Hurley was charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon and damaging a car.
