Bronx minister Michael Clare indicted on rape charges for sex with girl

A NYC grand jury indicted a 38-year-old minister who is accused of repeatedly having sex with a parishioner starting when she was only 12-years-old.

The victim, who is now 15 and recently gave birth to the pastor’s child, told her family and police of the abuse last summer.

Police initially arrested Michael Clare, the pastor of Harvest Worship Center International in Wakefield, on June 14, 2010 and charged him with second-degree sexual assault.

He was released after posting $20,000 cash.

The grand jury subsequently elevated the charges against the married father from West Harrison to include the more serious offense of rape in the first degree.

Police say DNA evidence implicated Clare.

Dr.Michael Claire has always been suspicious to my family. He would call my sisters & I “Sexy Peggy” and give us special treat ment. The camp was broken into age groups & when we weren’t allowed to go on a trip because of our age, we’d be told by him. “You guys will go on the trip but we’re not to tell our fellow campers.” On certain occasions we were the only ones who could ride in his ’01 Toyota Sequoia. Dr.Claire also had a name for us we were “The Corsa Crew.” We were enrolled for about 3 summers and never went back.
