He took the R train from Manhattan to Brooklyn to perform the last of his eight sold out concerts at the Barclays Center last night.
Straphangers where pleasantly surprised to see Jay-Z on the subway train he used to take when he was a young boy growing up in the Bed-Stuy section of Brooklyn.
Surrounded by off-duty police officers and his own private security staff, the rapper took the R train from Canal Street in Manhattan around 6:00 p.m. and got off at Atlantic Avenue; where he held up traffic as he walked the few blocks to perform at the home of the new Brooklyn Nets.
In addition to surprising concertgoers by walking into the main entrance of the venue instead of a side door, the rapper also shocked fans when he brought his wife Beyonce on stage in the middle of the show to perform their 2003 duet “Crazy in Love.”
The rapper, who also has a 1 percent interest in the Barclays Center, also brought Beyonce, who was wearing all leather, out at the ending of the show to join him with “Young Forever.”
If you were not lucky enough to be one of the 18,200 concertgoers at the event last night then maybe you caught in for free on Jay-Z’s YouTube channel where he streamed it live for free
