A New York City doctor, who pleaded guilty to fraud three years ago, shot himself to death on the day he was scheduled to report to prison.
Haitian born Orthopedic surgeon Gregory Perrier was on his way to the Otisville Federal Prison in Orange County when he asked his lawyer, Al Walker, to take him to the cemetery so he could visit his parents’ grave.
Reports say while the 46-year-old doctor was standing by his parents’ gravesite he pulled out a gun and shot himself in the head.
He then fell face up with his left hand on his chest surrounded by the flowers he had brought with him to the cemetery.
Friends say Perrier, who lived in Dix Hills, Long Island, with his wife and six children, had gotten caught up with in an insurance scam colleagues at his Flatlands, Brooklyn, office were involved with.
Authorities say the doctors were overcharging insurance companies by submitting phony bills.
While awaiting sentencing, Perrier traveled to Haiti last year to help victims of earthquake.

Greg was a wonderful husband and father.
He had a beautiful family and recently became
A Christian .
God bless and keep his family.
My prayers go out to them.
May god forgive him for the suicide.
Greg was a great doctor and a good man. He was brilliant, worked hard, and achieved at the highest levels. He had a beautiful family, with wonderful, highly accomplished children and a beautiful and loving wife. He taught his children to be disciplined, to be exceptional and to achieve at the highest levels, as well. It is with great sadness that I have learned of his death. I can only imagine how distraught and cornered he must have felt and I wish he had been able to see that he could get past this. He did much that was great in his life and he accomplished wonderful things. It is my deepest hope that his children will hold on to that. Rest in peace, Greg. May God Bless and Protect your soul and may He Bless and Protect your wife and children.
We are so saddened by this news. I was blessed to meet the very pleasant and passionate father, doctor, and friend of the family in the U.S.; and fondly remember the family’s brilliant performance at Surf Side, Bermuda for my bro’s wedding. I trust that Mrs. Perrier and each of those six beautiful & talented children is able to grieve peacefully with the hope that God is still in control.
Special regards from our two children to their friends. You all remain lovingly in our thoughts and prayers.
Is anyone doing anything to help the Perrier family? Is the Bethany Adventist Church or anyone in his Dix Hills community reaching out to see what his family needs. Please tell me how I can help.
