Loved ones are still trying to figure out what could have caused a New York City teacher to kill her two children, a 5-year-old boy and a 4-month-old girl inside their Bronx apartment.
Police responding to 911 calls of a gas leaked in a Bronx building found Lisette Bamenga suffering from a self-inflicted stab wound and her two children dead.
A police source said Bamenga, whose boyfriend is rookie NYC police officer, left a suicide note next to the two children indicating that she and the children “were going to a better place.”
When Officer Trevor Noel returned to his home at 1500 Noble Avenue in Parkchester after his shift Thursday night, he was shocked to find his apartment a crime scene and his two children, Trevor Jr. and Liliane dead.
Officer Noel was also told that his girlfriend was a suspect in the killing and she had attempted to commit suicide. He was told that she was rushed to Jacobi Hospital with self-inflicted stab wounds.
It is believed Bamenga fed her kids juice spike with a de-icer, which is colorless, odorless and sweet, just before she sealed off the windows of her ninth-floor apartment windows with plastic sheets and turned on the gas burners on her kitchen stove.
As of press time Bamenga was listed in stable condition.
Bamenga, who is originally from France, was a teacher at PS 58 in Brooklyn. Prior to teaching in Brooklyn, she taught at PS 58 in The Bronx.

Sounds like a case of post-partum depression which is often not recognized quickly with mothers who have recently given birth.
