An ailing 78-year-old Brooklyn priest is accused of attempting to sexually assault two teenage boys in the church’s rectory.

Msgr. Thomas Brady was arrested Friday night after church officials contacted police about the incident, which allegedly took place at the Good Shepherd Church rectory on Thursday.

Brady, who still resides at the rectory although he is retired, was charged with attempting a “criminal sex act”.

Diocese spokesperson, Stefanie Gutierrez said the priest was not in his right mind when the incident occurred.

“His mind just got foggy,” Gutierrez said.  “He was not in his right mind or faculties when this allegedly happened.”

Brady stepped retired from the Good Shepherd in 2009, after 20 years of being the church’s leader; however, he remained the pastor emeritus of the Marine Park Parish and lived in the church’s rectory.

Brady, who was ordained a Catholic priest in 1959, was released from jail after posting a $2,000 bail.

The former FDNY chaplain was also placed on administrative leave by the Diocese of Brooklyn.
