Both Mexican and Canadian authorities have confirmed that a man holding a Canadian passport was shot to death on a street in the city of Culiacan in Sinaloa state.
Officials identified the victim as Salid Abdulacis Sabas.
Authorities say the Canadian resident was shot with a high powered weapon sometime around midnight on Sunday.
Sinaloa is home to the drug cartel group led by Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, who is considered one of the most dangerous drug trafficker in the world.
It is unclear whether Sabas’ death is drug related.
