A Caribbean Airlines plane from New York to Guyana crashed early this morning at Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Guyanese officials have confirmed.
Authorities say the aircraft carrying 140 passengers split in two after it overshot the 400-foot runway barely missing a 200 foot ravine.
Although several passengers were injured in the accident no one was killed.
The Trinidad-based airline left New York Friday night making a stop in Trinidad before attempting to land at its final destination in Guyana early Saturday morning.
