The little girl, Brittney Baxter, told a Bremen news reporter that she was in the toy aisle of the discounted chain store when a man, who was later identified as Thomas Woods, walked up to her and began talking to her.

Brittney said she told him that “I’m going to see what my mamma is doing” and as she was about to walk away, Woods grabbed her from behind and put his hand over her mouth to silence her.

Brave little Brittney began kicking and squirming her way free before Woods let her go.  He then ran of out the store and Brittney ran to her mother, Georgeann Baxter, who was in a different aisle.

Woods, of Austell, Georgia, quickly apprehended and charged with attempted kidnapping.

It is unclear whether Woods is aware that the incident was captured on CCTV, but he has denied the charges.

Police said Jasper Aristotle Smiddie called his father on Tuesday saying he had killed his grandmother Gloria Helfrinch.

Smiddie’s father called 911 and when police arrived at Helfrinch’s home in the 4800 block of Wales Street in Lake Wales, they found her dead inside her bedroom.

An autopsy showed that Helfrich was stabbed in the back 58 times and in the back of her head 34 times.   She also suffered one stab wound to the face and was shot in the back of the head with a crossbow arrow.

Authorities said Smiddie also smashed his grandmother’s face with a pipe wrench.

The teenager was apprehended on Wednesday near his 14-year-old girlfriend’s parents’ home.

A motive for the gruesome killing is not yet known.

Authorities say 60-year-old Marvin Potter was upset with Billy Payne Jr. and Payne’s girlfriend, Billie Jean Hayworth, after the couple deleted his daughter, Janelle Potter, from their Facebook “friend” list.

Police in Mountain City said an angry Marvin Potter and his friend, Jamie Curd, went to the couple’s home and shot them to death.  When they were finished, one of the men took a knife and slashed Payne’s throat.

The bodies were discovered by a neighbor, who had dropped by to pick up some mail that 36-year-old Payne and 23-year-old Hayworth were holding for him.

Payne was found in his bedroom and Hayworth was found in her baby’s bedroom with her unharmed 8-month-old child in her arms.

Prior to last week’s murder, the victims had complained to police that 30-year-old Janelle Potter had been harassing them after they deleted her as a friend on the social networking website.

Robison became a person of interest after officers found a body inside the same home on Wednesday.

The shootings began around 2:00 p.m. Tuesday when four RCMP arrived at the home to execute a warrant.

As the officers approached the home someone opened fire hitting two.  The officers, a five-year veteran and a 2-year veteran, were taken to Edmonton hospitals where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

It is unclear whether the officers were there to serve Robison or the deceased and authorities have not said why the body was not discovered  until Wednesday; however, when the officers arrived at the home Robison was seen fleeing in a black 2000 Chevrolet Silverado with Alberta plate EZE 245.

Police are still searching the residence and outbuildings.

Twenty-seven year old reggae singer Metussala “Mandela” Mannings, of Toronto, and the others were arrested after airport officials seized 17 boxes in an air-freight shipment that arrived at Pearson Airport last week addressed to a bogus company.

Authorities said the cocaine was found in hollowed-out star apples in the boxes which also included pineapples and mangoes.

Investigators were first alerted to the crime last August when RCMP seized a marine container in Saint John, N.B. containing 19 kilograms of cocaine stuffed in hollowed-out pineapple.

Several months later, authorities seized another 115 kilograms of marijuana at the Windsor-Detroit border that was hidden in a shipment of watermelon on two trucks.

Arrested were 63-yearold Basil Barnett Blair, of Toronto, 28-year-old Susan Geneva O’Neil, of Scarborough, and 38-year-old Kenneth Arthur Wong, of Ajax.

Authorities said last week’s seized cocaine was worth more than $5 million.

Taleek Brooks, an aide at Public School 243 in Bedford Stuyvesant, had been out on $100,000 bail when he was for the second time.  He was originally arrested on January 13 on charges of possession and distribution of child pornography.

Brooks, who was suspended without pay after his arrest last month, was re-arrested after FBI agents discovered that some of the child porn videos on his home computer were shot at the school where he worked.

Reports say some of the videos showed Brooks touching a boy’s genitals and spanking a naked child in a school classroom at PS 243, which is also known as The Weeksville School.

When he was first arrested, Brooks admitted to downloading and sharing more than 1,000 digital child porn files with other pedophiles over a seven-year period.

Authorities first became aware of the crime after Brooks began chatting with an FBI agent, who was pretending to be a child, on an internet site.

According to the arrest report, Brooks told the agent that he likes “black boys 10 years old or older.”

Brooks, who also worked at an after school program, the Madison Square Boys and Girls club which was held at the school, had been employed with the BOE since 1995.

Police said the uninvited teenagers became angry after they were told to leave the Sweet 16 birthday party, which was being held at the Lithuanian House at 1573 Bloor Street West.

While outside, the boys got into a confrontation with several invited guests and then stabbed two men, ages 17 and 20.

The suspects then fled the scene but within hours two, both 15, were arrested at their homes.  The third, a 14-year-old, surrendered early Monday morning.

The three boys were all charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of assault with a weapon and weapons dangerous.  Additionally, the 14-year-old was charged with failing to comply with a recognizance order.

The victims were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The couple told police they had just returned home around 1:00 a.m. Friday and were walking from their vehicle to their front door when a man, wearing a hooded sweatshirt, walked up to them and demanded that they turn over their money, while claiming to have a weapon.

The couple turned over cash and their valuable possessions then called 911.

Police arrived with a K9 and the dog followed the burglar’s track to a neighboring home at 58 Grayrock Road.

Police looking through a window spotted the suspect, later identified as Sean Michael Delaney Kkosmicki, of 10 Lockwood Circle, in Westport, rummaging through what looked like the victim’s purse.

Kosmicki spotted the officer outside then ran into a furnace room in the basement of the home.  When ordered to surrender, Kosmicki refused and the officer released the dog forcing him to surrender.

While searching the home for other suspects, police found 19-year-old Sergio Paul, who lived at the home.

Kosmicki was charged with fifth-degree larceny, two counts of first-degree robbery, interfering with an officer and possession of narcotics.

Paul was charged with sixth-degree larceny, possession of narcotics and conspiracy to commit first degree robbery.

Paul is being held on $150,000 bond and Kosmicki on $250,000 bond.

State Trooper Christ Toney was treated at Day Kimball Hospital for non-life threatening injuries and Officer Ken Davidson, who also suffered non-life threatening injuries, declined medical treatment.

According to the police report, Trooper Toney was on patrol around 5:45 p.m. Friday when she spotted a vehicle pulling out of an abandoned home near Route 14.

With the assistance of Officer Davidson, Trooper Toney attempted to pull over the vehicle near the Canterbury Fire House and officers immediately recognized the passenger inside the vehicle as 22-year-old Mark Mills, who was wanted for failure to appear in court, twice.

As the officer tried to remove Mills from the vehicle there was a struggle and Mills yelled to the female driver to drive away.

The vehicle began moving while the two officers were partially inside. They were dragged a short distance before falling to the ground.

As of press time Mills and his female driver were still at large. They were last seen driving a silver-colored Chevy Lumina with Connecticut plates 145-JCL

A description of the driver was not given.

The incident occurred last Monday around 12:45 p.m. in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of the city.

According to the police report, the thugs-17-year-old Christopher Scott; Dezhaun Samuels, 18; Derrin Dyson, 17; and the 13-year-old who cannot be named because of his age, followed a 24-year-old man home to his apartment building and as the victim was about to open his door they forced him inside at gunpoint.

They then ordered the victim’s 22-year-old girlfriend, who was at home at the time of the incident, into a bathroom then took her into a bedroom where they tied her down to a bed.

The boys then each sexually assaulted the woman for about two hours while her boyfriend helplessly watched.

Authorities said at some point during the horrible ordeal, one of the boys took the woman’s ATM card and went to her bank where they withdrew money before returning to the apartment.

Police apprehended the suspects after viewing surveillance video from the building.

Police said that three of the suspects were arrested in the past but the nature of those arrests was not available at press time.
