A student at Jilin Agricultural University in the northeastern province of Jilin, China, pleaded guilty yesterday to killing his roommate in the middle of the night after getting into an argument about his snoring.

In a Chinese courtroom yesterday, 23-year-old Guo Liwei told a judge he stabbed Zhao Yan, 22, after he told Yan he posted a video on the school’s website of him snoring while he was asleep.

Liewi said he decided to make the video after having many sleepless nights and complaining to the university and Zhao about the problem.  He said the video quickly became a hit with students, but it created tensions between him and his roommate.

He said on the night in question, he and Zhao argument about the video and Zhao “verbally abuse me several times, prompting me to kill him.”

Liwei is currently awaiting sentencing.
