Aide and mistress to former Detroit Mayor, Kwame Kilpatrick, pleaded guilty today in court to obstruction of justice.
Christine Beatty cried as she admitted to the court that she lied under oath. In her deposition, Ms. Beatty denied that she had a sexual relationship with Mr. Kilpatrick, and denied knowing anything about the two police officers that Mr. Kilpatrick fired because he feared they might expose the relationship. Mr. Kilpatrick and Ms. Beatty were busted when the text messages from their city issued pagers became public.
Ms. Beatty, 38, will serve four months in jail, five years probation and pay restitution to the city and is barred from continuing her pursuit of a law degree while on probation.
