A 20-year-old Pennsylvania father is accused of killing his newborn baby daughter with a cinder block shortly after she was born.

Police in Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania, say Christopher T. Fitzpatrick and his girlfriend, Jennifer A. Barrise, were food shopping on May 28, with Fitzpatrick’s 11-year-old sister, when Barrise began having contractions inside the store.

According to the police report, Fitzpatrick told 28-year old Barrise, who has five other children, to “have this f…ing baby. I just want to get rid of it. I gotta do what I gotta do.”

It is alleged that Barrise then asked Fitzpatrick, “What do you want to do, kill it?”

The report says the couple and the girl left the store and were on their way home when Barrise’s contractions got closer and Fitzpatrick told her to “hurry up and have this baby, I want to get rid of it.”

Barrise soon gave birth to the baby inside the vehicle and it landed on the floor. The report says neither mother nor father picked up the crying child.

All four went home, but several hours later Fitzpatrick went back out with the baby leaving his sister and Bassise behind.

It is alleged that Fitzpatrick took the newborn to M n’ D Lawn Care, where he had just started working, and smashed her head twice with a cinder block.

He then buried the child in a shallow grave.

On May 29, the family had gathered at Gold Key Estates community in Pike County for a picnic when Fitzpatrick’s sister told their parents that “Jennifer had given birth to a baby inside the car.”

When asked by his parents, Scott and Michelle Fitzpatrick, what he had done with the child, the younger Fitzpatrick initially said he had dropped her off at a hospital for safe haven.  Several hours later he told his uncle that he killed the child then buried her in the woods near his job, which he started in April.

Reports say Fitzpatrick, who has a one-year-old child with Barrise, confessed to police telling them he could not afford to feed another child.

Last Friday, police charged both Barrise and Fitzpatrick with criminal homicide and concealing the death of child.
