Last Friday night, a prominent Columbia University professor was arrested after he sucker punch a fellow professor at a New York City bar during an intense argument about race, a NYPD spokesperson said.
According to reports, Professor Lionel McIntyre and Camille Davis, a production manager at Columbia’s theater department, were having drinks at a popular university bar in Harlem when McIntyre, who is black, started talking about “white privilege” with Davis, who is white and another white patron.
Witnesses said all of a sudden McIntyre, who is known as “Mac,” shoved Davis and when the other patron and a bar employee tried to break it up; the architecture professor hit Davis in the face.
The third party said he then yelled to McIntyre “You don’t hit a woman!” and 59-year-old professor knocked his glasses off.
It is believed that several weeks prior to the altercation at Toast, McIntyre and Davis were involved in another heated race discussion.
McIntyre was released without bail at his arraignment last night

Grades aren’t the only criteria for hiring someone no matter their demographic characteristics. Do you also complain about the legacy kids or trust fund babies who are hired just because of connections? Do you complain about people getting hired because of family/sexual/school/friend relationships with their boss? Just a race thing with you–how mature.

An entire continent is dying because of your mindset. Children are hungry because of your mindset. There are young people who don’t even think it’s possible to become a doctor because of your mindset. However, because that one doctor just making it through medical school an entire generation of children, young people and even adults is restored with a hope that was torn away from them everyday for over 400 years.
When was the last time your great grandparents were lynched because they were white? Or when was the last time you had to work twice as hard for half as much to prove that your you are competent enough and still be the first to get fired or laid off because you’re white?
If you can recall those instances, by all means your entitled, selfish mindset can be justified and would prove to make the world a better place than it already is!!

Were the Egyptians not conquered by the Romans? and the Indian by the English? the Greek by the Roman? the Roman by the Goths? the Teauton by the Mongolian? the Mongolian by numerous eastern empires? and then the Negro… what is that?
one can point out a “negro”. but i raise the question, what makes one a “negro”? is it his ancestry? because we all know what or whom and African, a Morrocan, a Jamaican, a Haitian (etc.) are called.
but a “negro”? i myself am unfamiliar witht he term’s origins, but i relate it with the Spanish term for the color we know in American as “black”. so does that make a “negro” a person of color? a person of “black” color? if so, then i must be a “blanco”.
please, i am not looking to mock or poke at years, decades, centuries of struggle. what i am trying to do is bring up a not so new thread of thought that it has nothing to do with “negro”. how many people of any race, ethnicity, cultrure, orrientation, whatever… how many see a world that yields him no true self-consciousness, but only lets him see himself through the revelation of the other world?
I venture to go as far to say that since we are reffering to “races” we are in fact making it a race issue. I see no race issue entirely. Our issue as a human society is hate vs love. Will we love our neighbor as ourself? or will we hate them for how they are different? A man commits a murder and is tried. He is tried unjustly. Will his case be heard or not be heard if he is of a certain color? and why should that be an issue? The issue is a “man” was tried unjustly. When you bring in his race or ethnicity, you make it just that. A woman is raped. The action is attrocious. Is it made any more horrible if it is a minority? does this not take away from the fact that a woman was wronged? Let us all start a revolution of conciousness that neither the right nor the left want us to begin thinking. The rape of a woman or the murder of a man don’t make the nightly news. But the rape of a white woman by a black man or the murder of a black man by a white man makes the headlines. So let’s bring the sanctity back to the human race and start reffering to ourselves as just that. One race. I can be “blanco” and be a man just as much as you can be “negro” and be a man. So let’s be men together.
You all seem to have missed the point – and this article leaves much to be desired and leaves out 90% of the facts. The biggest fact is (and I know and have known Ms. Davis for 10 years now) and she is not a racist of any kind!

Why would you assume that Ms. Davis was a racist? This male Professor has something wrong and needs help, not to be put on a pedestal no matter what the circumstances nor his race.
