Two Cosi employees who told Stamford a police officer they were robbed by an armed man last week were arrested and charged with larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny.

On June 16 Cosi’s manager David Rawsthorne, of 12 Maple Avenue in Bethel, called 911 and told police a man entered the Tresser Boulevard restaurant through a back door and ordered him to open the safe.

Twenty-six year old Rawsthorne told the responding officer that the robber got away with $2,000.

The responding officer quickly became suspicious of Rawsthorne’s story and it was later determined that the manager and former Cosi employee Justin Brunco, of 99 Prospect Street in Stamford, had concocted the story.

Thirty-three year old Brunco is being held in lieu of $25,000 bond and Rawsthorne is being held on $2,500 bond.
