Canadian police say thirty-year-old Darrin Thomas Amond attacked a total stranger earlier this week and left him on the streets of Calgary to die.

Police responding to a call around 8:00 p.m. on Monday found the victim unconscious on the ground in the area of 22nd Ave and 17th street S.E.

The man, who is believed to have been in his 30s, was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

Authorities say because of the man’s injuries they are unable to do a physical identification.  They are now relying on dental or medical records to identify the victim.

Amond was arrested on Wednesday and charged with one count of second-degree murder.

Police did not say what led to the arrest.
