Darrin Thomas Amond kills man unprovoked attack

Canadian police say thirty-year-old Darrin Thomas Amond attacked a total stranger earlier this week and left him on the streets of Calgary to die.

Police responding to a call around 8:00 p.m. on Monday found the victim unconscious on the ground in the area of 22^nd Ave and 17^th street S.E.

The man, who is believed to have been in his 30s, was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

Authorities say because of the man’s injuries they are unable to do a physical identification.  They are now relying on dental or medical records to identify the victim.

Amond was arrested on Wednesday and charged with one count of second-degree murder.

Police did not say what led to the arrest.
