A South African police officer guarding Nelson Mandela’s home shot and killed himself while on duty, Johannesburg police confirmed. The unnamed officer, who worked for the VIP unit, committed suicide today in the guardhouse while the former president was at home. Authorities said the one-time prisoner was not in any danger.
