After hearing screams coming from her mother’s bedroom, Torrington, Connecticut police said a 16-year-old girl gathered a few of her friends and entered the room with a bat and beat up the woman’s attacker.

According to police, the teenager and four of her friends entered the bedroom and saw a 25-year-old man in her mother’s bed and one of her friends started beating the man with a bat, while the others punched him.

The problem is, Police Lt. Bruce Whiteley said, the man was not attacking the 34-year-old woman they were making love.

He said the teenager misinterpreted her mother’s amorous screams for screams of help and took four of her friends, two 17-year-old girls, 19-year-old Dilyen Langdeau, and another teenage boy, into her mother’s bedroom and beat up the man.

During an interview with the local media, the mother, Melanie Arnold said instead of her daughter and her friends asking, “What was going on, they assumed the worst and took matters into their own hands, and now they have to learn a lesson.”

According to the man, Roger Swanson, who has since broke up with Arnold; the teens rushed into the bedroom and didn’t give them a chance to explain what was going on.

He said he knelt down over a chair and tried to protect his face, but was hit in the eye and in the back.

According to Swanson, the kids need to learn a lesson and he is happy they were arrested.

Langdeau was charged with assault and conspiracy, the three teenagers, who cannot be named because of their ages, were charged with similar charges and a fifth teenager was not charged.
