BAKU, Azerbaijan – A shooting at the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy early Thursday left at least seven students dead and wounded another 15, according to local media.
There were conflicting reports about the number of gunmen involved, with the Azerbaijan News Service saying two men opened fire before one killed himself.
The TV station said the other attacker was still inside the academy in Baku and may have taken hostages.
Russian and Azeri news agencies said, however, that there was only one attacker, and 10 students have been killed.
There was no immediate way of reconciling the differing accounts, and local police would only confirm the shooting occurred but declined to give details.
The Russian and Azeri news agencies said special forces have surrounded the building.
