Since Wednesday of last week, thousands of demonstrators took to the streets in Los Angeles and San Francisco areas to protest the passage of Proposition 8, a constitution amendment banning same sex marriages.
In May of this year, California Supreme Court ruled to legalize same sex marriages. However, last Tuesday, Californians voted to approve Proposition 8 banning the union.
I am disappointed the Californians decided to vote for Proposition 8. It wasn’t that long ago that interracial marriage was illegal in many states.
To gay brothers and sisters in California, continue to fight the fight and remember you are not alone in this. There are many heterosexuals, like myself, who will stand next to you until proposition 8 is overturned.
