Dr. Amitabh Chauhan and Dr. Suganthan Kayilasanathan accused of drugging and raping a 23-year-old woman

Calm down, people. Nothing’s confirmed yet, every accusation is exactly that and we weren’t presented with and solid facts yet.
Until then, I’d hold off on passing judgment until we get some confirmation. Anyone can go to the cops and accuse anyone of anything. Even if the woman is making this whole thing up, the publicity thus far has already put a dent in their careers.

Listen Sue, Lay and a-said..you are all in mates of those two guys; or else friends. please don`t over act here on this issue; you know very well this is true and you are now trying to support the two guys. Is that so easy for especially a Tamil woman of age 23 to simply come forward and say against her own chastity in the public. Listen there cannot be smoke without fire. If they swallowed too much salt then they must drink tanks of water. How can anyone go to these doctors hereafter for plastic surgery or else even for an ache. No woman would definitely go to them. Who knows they may even be bisexual. Then young men also cannot go to them. So these are things that we public are concerned. Must BAN their practice for ever, and teach the whole medical society a lesson so that no one ever repeats. We hope the JUDGE Will provide the severe punishment to ban them completely. Otherwise the sovereignty of the MEDICAL PROFESSION is gone to dogs, is what the judgment project to the public. No excuse at all. Period. If these three aforementioned guys have daughters then they would not come and write like this. You by now know who they are.

I went to college with Suganthan Kayilasanathan and these allegations don’t surprise me in the least. Him and his friends would prey on girls. They’d joke about rape etc..

Skep- calm down. Let the police do the detective work and the prosecution do the accusing. I didn’t know you had a direct line to the police and that they told you the victim was Tamil? What else did they tell you? Do share! These are two guys who have accomplished a lot. Getting into plastic surgery is the most difficult task for any medical student and getting a Canadian licence with a Caribbean education is even harder so the fact that these are 2 hard working men and that it is the police who allege there were drugs involved and NOT THE VICTIM makes me highly suspicious. We will just have to wait and see when the trial goes to court. Until then calm down people.

I went to school at RMC with Dr. Chauhan and when I informed some fellow grads about this arrest, nobody seemed that surprised, which surprised me.

Obviously, this is not proof or guily (or anything at all) but it doesn’t bode well if people aren’t exactly shocked at the charges. In any event, the last thing the Canadian military needs is more stories like this.

I’m sure justice will more or less be served in this case, once the facts are laid bare.

Hi, I met suganthan through a friend. As a woman, I instantly felt there was something not quite right about him. Thank you Jessica for confirming my instincts.

Wow.. Not only is this country loaded with different races and cultures, but holy crap are there a lot of opinions. I personally grew up with sugan and the rest of his family. I have always considered them family friends since childhood. Welived in the same complex in scarborough for years. Although we have not spoken in a few years, I never thought I would hear his name involved in something like this. Please do not jump to conclusions until all evidence is presented and the police investigate. As a Canadian he is entitled to that just as we are entitled to our opinions. If they are found guilty than may they suffer to the full extent of the law.

Just because the guy had bad experience with women doesnt prove him to be guilty, only the law shall decide on his fate, not all these comments. We will see more as the case unwraps, but i suspect highly this is going to be settled out of court. The girl is going to widthdraw the case and drop all charges, my predicitons.

I had a similar experience with him and I ran far away from him too. When I told someone about it and it got back to him he was angry called me an f–ing bitch and told me he’ll come after me some day. He’s scary and dangerous, when he left the island i was relieved.

I went to school with Suganthan and while I’m not surprised about the allegations they are just that, allegations. I’d like to say that I have faith in the justice system but from personal experience I don’t. It’s not their fault however, nothing is an exact science and people have to acknowledge that actions speak louder than words. Just because this doctor isn’t found guilty doesn’t make all the other above comments about his treatment of women untrue or less valid. CLEARLY his actions are reflective of a man who needs a reality check on how to treat women. I’m not ready to judge him just yet and I refuse to believe that the police are going on ‘word of mouth’…they have some proof or something….as someone accurately described – where there’s smoke…

These two docs may be found innocent in a court of law, but that doesn’t clear the stigma that will forever be associated with their names.

It’s obvious you know these guys and your defense of their ‘accomplishments’ is admirable. BUT, being accomplished doesn’t make you above the law. It doesn’t even allow the benefit of the doubt when you’re accused of what these two are accused of. The police have CHARGED them with a crime, its time for you to accept that something with your friend(s) isn’t right. Yes, the justice system will dictate their fate but NOT their innocence. Have you read the comments from other WOMEN? There is continuity here. Women feel threatened but these people. Guilty in court of law or not, there’s something fishy about the consistency of the comments.

I applaude you for your friendship, but you’re looking for a silver lining that’s just not there.

This guy Suganthan he is something else. First of all he had numerous hidden cameras installed in his previous condo(pervert), he cheats on his gf’s, he had problems with the law before when he was a teenager. His dad intervened so that he wouldnt be charged with possession of a gun. He has never been held accountable for his actions. Ontario law is a joke.

Hi, I actually dated Sugs and he was sexually agressive. He use to get in blow out fights with me because I wouldn’t sleep with him. I am so upset to hear that he had cameras installed in his condo and that scares me as I did sleep over there many a times.

What bothers me the most is that we became friends after i decided he just wasn’t the one for me and to learn of cameras installed? How do you know this? I feel sick to my stomach.

I also found him on facebook under a false name of Shahan Silva and all of the friends he has listed were in high school I confronted him about it and he made a lame excuse. I’m very disappointed ,

I had an encounter with Suganthan when I was 16yrs old. Suganthan was attending University at that time. I was blinded by his “innocent” appearance.

I wanted to report my ordeal to the police but I didn’t have enough information about him to make a report (full name, tel# etc), so I kept it to myself all these years.

He’s a predator and based on my experience with him he should be convicted of RAPE!!!!!!!!

I had met him briefly and felt there was something up with him. Please share your stories so more girls will be aware of his predator ways and those who have already unfortunately experienced this, can relate and not feel they are not alone in this.
Also does anyone have an update on this case?

I wasn’t too surprised when I read Suganthan’s story last year. I knew him shortly after he moved to sj but had no idea about his hidden cameras at his condo until I found some comments from different websites last year.

I guess it would have been about 4 years ago now? maybe 3 and a half. I’m very disturbed about the cameras and continue to check the internet for info on him but nothing. It’s an awful feeling.

this is quite comical – the “Detective In Charge” is trolling the blogosphere for evidence 2 years after the fact! This guy Luff is some piece of work.

It clearly shows the weakness of his case if he is looking for more crap at this stage. The trial will reveal the truth I bet.

I know Toronto Police will stop at nothing to frame a guy if they have to but this is sheer desperation.
