The Connecticut doctor who loss his wife and two daughters in a 2007 deadly Cheshire home invasion plans to remarry.
Dr. William Petit Jr. proposed to photographer Christine Paluf over the holidays.
Thirty-four year old Paluf and Dr. Petit met while she was taking pictures at a Petit Family Foundation event, which is dedicated to the memory of Petit’s wife and daughters. It supports the education of young people, in particular women in the sciences.
Petit’s wife, Jennifer, and their two children, Hayley, 18, and Michaela, 11, were killed during a July 2007 break-in.
Suspects, Steven Hayes and Joshua Komisarjevsky were convicted in separate trials. Hayes was sentenced to death row and Komisarjevsky, who was convicted in December, is waiting to be sentenced on January 27.
Paluf accompanied Petit to the courthouse during the trials.
Update: 1/5/11
Earlier reports say Petit met Paluf while she was hired to take pictures at one of his foundation’s events, but there are new reports that say the couple had been seeing each other before the dreadful 2007 incident.
