Eight arrested in the Michael Phelps’ bong smoking?

According to television reports, police in Columbia, South Carolina, have arrested eight people in connection with Olympian Michael Phelps’ bong smoking.  Seven of the arrests are for drug possession and the eighth is for drug distribution.

A local Columbia TV station said that the Richland County Sheriff’s Department gave the arrest information to them, however, Lt. Chris Cowan said, “He did not get it from us, and I don’t know that to be true.”  He further went on to say, “We are investigating, and if we determine that illegal activity has occurred, we will bring charges.”

Authorities began to investigate Phelps’ alleged marijuana smoking, after a British tabloid print a picture of the Olympian smoking it from a bong.
