The wife of professional soccer player Colin Hendry died today after her family made the heartbreaking decision to take her off life-support machine.

Forty-two year old Denise Hendry had been in a coma for weeks after she was given an epidural anesthetic before surgery to repair a botched cosmetic surgery.

It is believed that this surgery was to be the last of several to repair the original damage of a liposuction procedure that went wrong seven years ago.

Hendry had suffered nine punctures to her bowel and colon, causing blood poisoning and multiple organ failure and needed a 16-hour operation in May as part of the recovery process.

The liposuction was done in April 2002 by Swedish cosmetic surgeon Gustav Aniansson at the private Broughton Park Hospital.
