A little known British jewelry designer has been bombarded with orders for her $78 cubic zirconia and pearl dangling earrings ever since the Duchess of Cambridge wore a pair during the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations.
Kate Middleton was photographed on the balcony of Buckingham Palace in the “fabulous fakes” earrings designed by Belinda Hadden, from the little known company Heavenly Necklaces.
The designer said within the 24hours of the Duchess wearing the earrings “I was sold out.” She said “I sold 60 on my website, which is the amount I would usually sell in a whole year.”
Hadden says the pearl on Middleton’s was made from ground-up freshwater pearls reconstituted with resin.
The designer sources her fakes from India, China and Hatton Garden in London.
