Is this a sign of the times? In most likely unrelated cases, two banks have been robbed by two elderly people estimated to be in their 60s or 70s.
The FBI is looking for the sexagenarian “Grandma Bandit,” who is suspected of robbing a Chino bank twice–once in January and again on Friday, November 14. She allegedly tells bank tellers she is being forced to rob the bank. She gives the tellers a note saying “Please help this lady, she is strapped,” and lifts her shirt to display a metal object with a wire attached. Authorities are considering that this is true, but also the possibility that it may be a ruse.
Another bank was robbed in Garden Grove on Friday the 14th by an elderly man in his 60s or 70s. The man walked up to a woman holding money in her hand and demanded she give it to him. She ran so he then went up to the teller, threatened her and got away with some cash before police arrived.
