Finally, Ann Curry leaves the Today show

With less than 10 minutes left on the second hour of the Today show, a teary Ann Curry officially announced she was leaving the morning show.

“I have loved you and I have wanted to give you the world…and I still do,” Curry told viewers.

She then went on to say that “they” are giving her a new assignment with a new team and they will be going around the world to interview people and those interviews will be broadcast on NBC Universal news programs including the Today show.

Rumor has it that Matt Lauer was behind Curry’s exit, but if that’s correct he certainly didn’t show it on the couch.
