Marion County prosecutors said Thursday that 23-year-old Brandon L. Burns is being held on preliminary felony charges of arson and intimidation in the blaze two weeks ago.
A fire this morning in Indianapolis, Indiana, destroyed the new $28 million Cosmopolitan luxury apartment complex, which is still under construction.
The fire, which erupted around 3:30 this morning, destroyed the six-story building, and gray smoke was seen billowing across the downtown skyline.
About 125 firefighter were brought in to bring the fire under control, and according to reports, a potion of the building collapsed while firefighters were trying to put out the fire.
Mayor Greg Ballard said, “Firefighters kept the flames from spreading to adjacent, occupied buildings. It’s a remarkable job how they got in there to do this.”
A spokesperson for the project said that the complex consisted of 218 apartments, and some were already getting carpeting installed. They were hoping to have the units available for rent in May.
