Five dead at a LA Fitness gym

Update: 5:39 p.m.

Pittsburgh police found vile, racist journal belonging to George Sodini in which he revealed his plans to shoot up the gym.

Sodini, who worked in a law firm’s finance department, blamed everyone, including his parents, siblings and preacher, for not having a girlfriend.

On his website, he complained about not having a girlfriend since 1984, not having a date since May 2008 and not having sex for 19 years.

“Women just don’t like me.  There are 30 million desirable women in the U.S (my estimate) and I cannot fine one,” he wrote on his website.

The loner left behind names and addresses in a note he posted to make it easier for authorities to track down his next of kin.  He also left the name of a woman who he said, “had my baby in early 1991,” who died five years ago.

According to reports, last Friday he wrote his final notes, which he left on his coffee directing cops to the “practice papers,” which directed them to one that said, “The notes in my gym bag can be published freely.”

Authorities said he urged anyone who reads his 4,610 word journal to pass them on so “my voice will speak forever! Death lives”

Police said he scoped out the gym twice on Tuesday before entering the facility wearing workout gear and a headband and bringing with him four guns.

He then entered a “Latin impact” dance aerobics class, placed a duffel bag on the ground, turned off the lights and started shooting, killing Heidi Overmier, 46, Elizabeth Gannon, 49 and Jody Billingsley, 38.

Update: 8:06 a.m.

Authorities identified the shooter as 48-year-old George Sodini.

It is believed Sodini’s ex-girlfriend, who was shot in the leg but is expected to survive, was the target in deadly shooting.

The fitness instructor, who had just announced her pregnancy, was also shot.

Police found a note in Sodini’s bag confessing his hatred for women.

At least five people were killed and 15 wounded when a gunman walked into a LA Fitness gym in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Tuesday night, officials confirmed.

Authorities said the gunman is included in the fatalities.

According to witnesses, a middle-aged white man walked into a class that had about 30 women holding a big gym bag.

He then put down the bag, turned off the lights, and opened fire.
