Nadia Lockyer, the estranged wife of California state Treasurer Bill Locker, was arrested last week after police found methamphetamine inside a Orange County home, where she was staying with her 9-year-old son.
Forty-one year old Lockyer, who used to be Alameda County Supervisor, was charged with drug possession and child-endangerment.
A spokesperson with Orange County District Attorney’s Office said police went to the home on August 28 after receiving a tip that drugs was inside the house.
During a search of the home, officers found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The arresting officers also said Lockyer showed signs of being under the influence of a drug.
Lockyer resigned from her District 2 supervisorial seat in April 20, a little more than 2 months after she claimed her former lover, Stephen Chikhani, attacked her in a Newark hotel she had rented after getting into an argument with her husband.
No charges were ever filed against Chikhani, of San Jose.
In July Bill Lockyer filed for divorce from his wife of nine years citing “irreconcilable difference”. He is seeking legal custody of their son.
