Former boxing champion Travis Simms and his wife, Sandra Stokes, were arrested in Norwalk over the weekend and charged with interfering with an officer and breach of peace.
Police were called to the Townhouse Gardens Apartment complex at 15 Madison Avenue around 11:00 p.m. Sunday, where they found over 20 people involved in a family dispute.
When officers tried to calm the group, Simms, a former World Boxing Association’s light middleweight champion, led them across the street and began yelling and cursing at the cops.
One of the officers pulled out a Taser and pointed it at Simms, ordering him to the ground and Stokes got in between the officer and her husband.
Stokes then allegedly walked up to the officer and pushed his hand and the Taser away and began pointing her finger in his face and yelling at him.
Reports say the officer pushed her hand away and she yelled at him telling him not to touch her and slapped his arm. The officer then arrested her.
As the officers were arresting Simms, who served on the Common Council for two years, he resisted.
Simms and Stokes, both 41, were released after posting $1,000 bail
